SUMMARY:Alma Heckman: “Absence and Counter-Narratives: The Years of Lead and the Moroccan Jewish Exodus”
DESCRIPTION:Alma Rachel Heckman’s research crosses Jewish history\, North Africa\, French empire and the history of social movements. Her talk emerges from her project “Radical Nationalists: Moroccan Jewish Communists 1925-1975.” \nHeckman is Assistant Professor of History and Jewish Studies at UC Santa Cruz. \n  \nThe Center for Cultural Studies will continue to host a Wednesday colloquium series\, which features current cultural studies work by campus faculty and visitors. The sessions are informal\, normally consisting of a 30-40 minute presentation followed by discussion. We gather at noon\, with presentations beginning at 12:15.
