On January 30th, 2018 The Humanities Institute hosted the fourth Questions That Matter event on the theme of “Freedom and Race” for a capacity crowd at Kuumbwa Jazz Center. The Humanities Institute Director Nathaniel Deutsch was joined by Dean of Humanities Tyler Stovall and History of Art and Visual Culture professor Jennifer González for a wide-ranging and important discussion.

Questions That Matter is a public humanities series developed by UCSC Humanities Institute and the community of Santa Cruz. It brings together, in conversation, two or more UC Santa Cruz scholars with community residents and students to explore questions that matter to all of us.
