UCHRI and HASTAC are happy to announce that the award decisions for the second Digital Media and Learning Competition funded by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation and administered by HASTAC have been made. Selected from a pool of approximately 700 applications, fourteen projects won Innovation awards ranging from $30,000 to $250,000 and five projects received Young Innovator awards ranging from $5,000 to $30,000 for a total of $2 million. The winning projects are expected to produce promising innovations in the use of digital media for participatory learning. Read more.

The Center for Mediterranean Studies is dedicated to the study of the nature of premodern Mediterranean societies and cultures and their role in World History and the History of "the West." Located at the intersection of three continents the Premodern Mediterranean was a shared environment characterized by tremendous ethnic and religious diversity and by the particular intensity of its cultural, economic, and political exchange.
