Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music – Unbound

The Festival orchestra brings to life new works exploring historical and personal journeys. The Golden Spike by Daniel Kellogg marks the 150th anniversary of the transcontinental railroad. unbound: Phase 1 by rising composer Nathaniel Heyder reflects on a period of artistic and personal freedom. Lembit Beecher’s Tell Me Again uses cello to portray a story of immigration, composed for the virtuosic cellist Karen Ouzounian. Casting the Dice, a powerful Festival commission by Iván Enrique Rodríguez explores the experiences of displaced people and human movement.
