UC Humanities Update: Sept. 21, 2011
Welcome back to academic year 2011-12!
And welcome to the first edition of the UC Humanities Update, a fortnightly e-news blast from UCHRI designed to bring you the latest news and information about humanities across the UC system, from opportunities for funding and networking to stories about emerging research, collaborations, events, and more.
So, what’s new this month? Well, just about everything….
We’ve been hard at work since last spring revamping our websites, creating new looks, expanded content, improved navigation, and heightened functionality for both the UC Humanities Research Institute and the UC Humanities Network. We encourage you to test drive the new sites. Feedback is welcome.
Highlights include:
- a breakdown of funding available to UC humanities faculty and graduate students
- a list of all projects funded for 2011-12
- profiles of the 2011-12 Society of Fellows and Multicampus Research Groups
- a new microsite for the UC California Studies Consortium
The UC Humanities Network site also incorporates two new interactive features designed to encourage collaboration and connectivity: the UC Humanities Forum and the UC Humanities Exchange.
The UC Humanities Forum will showcase the cutting-edge individual and collaborative humanities research across the UC system as well as an ongoing online discussion of the state of the humanities and the University of the California.
We hope the Forum will spark your engagement, fire up your imagination and spur you to join the conversation.
NEW ON THE FORUM:
- 2011-2012 UC Humanities Correspondents: The Humanities to Come
- Workshop on Working Groups for The Humanities and Changing Conceptions of Work Research Initiative
- 2012 meeting of the UC President’s Society of Fellows in the Humanities
The UC Humanities Exchange will be launched in October, and will serve as a digital bulletin board enabling UC faculty and graduate students to share research interests and recruit potential participants for multi-campus or interdisciplinary groups, conference panels, and other collaborative research ventures.
