UCSC Joins the Unicode Consortium
We are very pleased to announce that the Humanities Division at UCSC has joined the Unicode Consortium.
The consortium is a not-for-profit organization founded to develop and promote the use of the Unicode Standard, a computing industry standard allowing computers to consistently represent text expressed in most of the world’s writing systems. In collaboration with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), Internet Engineering Consortium (IEC) and World Wide Web Consortium (W3C), the consortium strives to refine the Unicode specifications and expand the character set. In short, their work “enables people around the world to use computers in any language.”
