NPR’s Jesse Thorn, Humanities alumnus, returns to his roots in Santa Cruz
By Wallace Baine, Santa Cruz Sentinel
Back when Jesse Thorn was spending most of his waking hours at the studios of KZSC, hardly anybody had heard of podcasting.
But for the UC Santa Cruz student, and baseball and comedy nerd, podcasting made perfect sense. He was an early adopter of the technology, turning his KZSC show “The Sound of Young America” and another comedy show “Jordan, Jesse Go” into podcasts with his pal and comedy partner Jordan Morris.
Today, Thorn has built a mini empire of podcasting, known as “Maximum Fun,” and he’s the host of a hot NPR show “Bullseye,” which has made him into one of the most prominent young personalities in public broadcasting.
