Share

The Humanities Institute is pleased to announce three new Graduate Student Instructors and three new Research Clusters that will explore THI’s 2020-2021 theme: Memory. Three Graduate Student Instructors have been selected to develop and teach a new THI course focused on “Memory and the Americas,” with support from faculty mentors, Sylvanna Falcón, Matt O’Hara, and Nathaniel Deutsch. The course is part of The Humanities Institute’s annual Questions That Matter series and is funded through the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation’s Expanding Humanities Impact and Publics project. Previous THI Graduate Student Instructors developed undergraduate courses on Data and Democracy and Futures.

THI’s 2020-2021 Public Humanities GSIs are:

–  Gabriela Segura (Latin American and Latino Studies)

–  Marina Segatti (Feminist Studies)

–  Katie Ligmond (Visual Studies)

THI is also supporting three new Research Clusters on Memory. Research clusters are experimental initiatives that can serve as incubators for larger projects in the future.

THI’s 2020-2021 Research Clusters are:

–  “Border Regimes and Resistance in Global Perspective” led by Jennifer Kelly (Feminist Studies/Critical Race and Ethnic Studies) and Camilla Hawthorne (Sociology/Critical Race and Ethnic Studies)

–  “Memory of Forgotten Wars” led by Christine Hong (Literature/Critical Race and Ethnic Studies)

–  “Making Sense of Memory” led by Vilashini Cooppan (Literature/Critical Race and Ethnic Studies)
