CFA: Center for South Asian Studies Graduate Fellowships 2025

The Center for South Asian Studies (CSAS) invites applications for our 2025 graduate fellowships. CSAS graduate fellowships are for research and research-based travel for projects related to South Asia, including conferences and conference travel. They are open to graduate students from any division at UC Santa Cruz and can be used beginning in Summer 2025. Multiple fellowships will be awarded. 


Eligibility: The student must be:

  • Enrolled in a doctoral program at UC Santa Cruz
  • Working on a project related to South Asia
  • Be within normative time and in good academic standing
  • Enrolled in at least five credits of graduate-level coursework. Students are ineligible to apply while on leave. 


Application consists of:

1)  Letter of application (one to two pages), describing the proposed research and/or travel and including a simple budget. The application letter should address why the research/travel is important and explain both how it is related to South Asia and how it will contribute to your progress toward the degree.

2)  Curriculum vitae, which includes a list of previous and current awards and grants (award and grant titles, dates, and amounts)

Note:  Successful fellows will be required to submit a 1-page report with photos at the completion of their fellowship. These materials will be posted on the CSAS website.
