Fifth Annual Filipino American History Month Festival

Join us in celebrating Filipino American History Month with a powerful day of culture, art, food, and community—honoring the legacy of the Manong Generation and the stories that shaped the Pajaro Valley. This event is presented by the Tobera Project and co-sponsored by The Humanities Institute and Watsonville is in the Heart. The event will be presided by two 2026 Grand Marshalls Dr. Kathleen Cruz Gutierrez and Mr. Maurice Carrillo. Dr. Gutierrez is one of the chief investigators of the academically-acclaimed Watsonville is in the Heart oral and digital archive. Mr. Maurice Carrillo is a long-standing member of the Tobera Project and recently joined the Watsonville is in the Heart research team to rediscover and reunite with his long-lost relatives in Pangasinan, Philippines. Both Kathleen and Maurice have exhibited a strong dedication to community service and empowering Filipino voices and presence in the Pajaro Valley.
