The Librarians – A Banned Books Week Film Screening
October 6, 2026 @ 7:00 pm | Colligan Theater at The Tannery Arts Center (View)
Join Bookshop Santa Cruz and The Humanities Institute for a special Banned Books Week screening of The Librarians documentary in support of Santa Cruz City Schools. Following the 90-minute film screening there will be a brief panel discussion with librarians and youth leaders. Come celebrate the freedom to read and the librarians, booksellers, and community members who help kids discover new worlds, ideas, and perspectives through books.
This event is organized by three high school students as a fundraiser to help put banned books in the hands of Santa Cruz youth. 100% of donations will go toward purchasing banned and challenged books for libraries and schools across Santa Cruz City Schools. Choose your donation amount (from $5 to $500) on the ticket page, with every contribution helping us get more banned books onto our public school library shelves. Can’t make the screening? You can still donate to the fundraiser here.
The Librarians takes audiences inside the fight to protect libraries and the freedom to read, following librarians and community members standing up for access to books and information.
