Research Development

Caitlin Charos, Research Development Specialist for the Humanities and Humanistic Social Sciences, is available to discuss funding opportunities with any interested faculty member, to provide proposal support, and to make custom research plans/calendars for the year.

Funding Snapshots: Each month, The Humanities Institute provides a curated list of funding opportunities.

PIVOT

All UCSC Faculty and grad students are eligible to sign up for a free Pivot institutional account. Use your UCSC email address for access and this Pivot Guide to set up customized searches of funding sources.

DEADLINES
If you are planning to apply for an institutional grant this year (a grant that is submitted by and will run through UCSC), please reach out to Caitlin Charos as soon as possible. She will make sure you are following these proposal guidelines from the Office of Research and provide you with a Proposal Intake Form, which takes only a few minutes to fill out. After you submit the form, a Cayuse record will automatically be created for you and an OSP Proposal Administrator will work with Caitlin to guide you through the next steps.

OSP needs to be notified at least 10 working days (that’s usually 2 weeks, without holidays) before the agency deadline for the grant that you will be applying for.  Some proposals, which are more complicated (see guidelines) require 20 working days (4 weeks). LATE PROPOSALS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED.
