Sikh and Punjabi Studies: Achievements and New DirectionsIn this inaugural conference for the Sikh and Punjabi Studies program at the University of California, Santa Cruz, leading and emerging scholars will take stock of the state of the field and its future direction, in the areas of their expertise. Sessions will cover history, philosophy, language and literature, political economy, musicology and contemporary society.

The conference welcomes attendance by scholars and students from all disciplines, as well as interested members of the general public.

UC Santa Cruz is close to the San Francisco Bay Area, with one of the largest concentrations of Sikhs in North America. The conference especially welcomes attendance by community members.
