PhD+: Research Off the Tenure Track
November 4, 2016 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm | Stevenson Fireside Lounge
November’s PhD+ workshop focuses on opportunities for research in careers not on the tenure track. Join us for a discussion led by Elaine Sullivan (History) with Yoh Kawano (UCLA, GIS Specialist and lecturer in Urban Planning and Public Policy) and Rachel Deblinger (Director, Digital Scholarship Commons) to consider the multiple forms that fulfilling, meaningful, and impactful research can take. We will discuss what research looks like in non-traditional academic jobs, exploring the potential of collaborative projects, negotiating research time, and being an intellectual partner other people’s research.
Lunch will be served, as always.
Please RSVP below.
PhD+ Workshop Series
Please join us for the second year of PhD+ Workshops, hosted by the Institute for Humanities Research. We will meet monthly, over lunch, to discuss:
possible career paths for PhDs, internship possibilities, grants/fellowships, work/life balance, elements of style, online identity issues, and much, much more.
