What is Humanists@Work?

Humanists@Work is a UC-wide initiative geared towards UC Humanities and humanistic Social Science MAs and PhDs interested in careers outside/alongside the academy.

On May 1, 2017, HumWork will host a sixth workshop for graduate students and faculty members in partnership with the University of California, Santa Cruz. Inspired by its location, Humanists@Work Graduate Career Workshop – Silicon Valley will engage the synergistic possibilities at the intersection of new media, community engagement, education and public humanities that is characteristic of the greater Bay Area.

The Résumé Studio’s Jared Redick returns to Humwork, sharing his “purpose, content, design” techniques aimed at helping recent and soon-to-be PhDs shape a purposeful résumé, while framing the possibilities of a fulfilling future beyond or alongside academia.

SESSION 2 – PERSUASIVE INTERVIEWING

Student debt is a collective experience shared by the majority of humanities PhDs, so why aren’t we talking about it? Candid Conversations engages faculty, graduate students, and university staff in a dialogue around the issue of debt and how it influences your post-PhD careers.
