Departing from the recent experience of the launch of the Spanish edition of their book Abolition.Feminism.Now (co-authored with Erica Meiners and Beth Richie) in Mexico City, this conversation addresses the challenge of what intersectionality across regions, struggles, and identities might mean in this moment, as well as the expansion of global anti-carceral work. With an increased abolitionist focus on national borders and detention and a necessary balance of attention to a multiplicity of issues, how does Abolition Feminism operate through solidarities with and in Latin America (Mexico and Brazil, in particular), Palestine, and Iran?

Angela Davis is Distinguished Professor Emerita of History of Consciousness and Feminist Studies at UC Santa Cruz. Her most recent publications include the first volume of her collected writings on abolition (second volume forthcoming). For more than a half century, she has engaged in radical activism internationally for multiple causes.

Gina Dent is Professor of Humanities and Faculty Director of the Institute of the Arts and Sciences at UC Santa Cruz, where she is also PI and co-director of the Visualizing Abolition project. Her most recent publication is Seeing through Stone, a catalog from the 2024-25 Visualizing Abolition exhibition.
