Gershom Gorenberg – The Helen Diller Distinguished Lecture in Jewish Studies

Share

On February 8, 2023, Gershom Gorenberg gave the annual Helen Diller Distinguished Lecture in Jewish Studies, entitled “The Secret War Against the Nazis for the Middle East.”

Drawing on his latest book, War of Shadows, historian and alumnus Gershom Gorenberg (Kresge ’76, Religious Studies) revealed the espionage affair that led to the British victory against Rommel at El Alamein – turning the tide of the war and preventing the mass murder of the Jews of Egypt, Palestine and the rest of the Middle East.
