- the benefits and challenges associated with establishing a mentor/mentee relationship with different types of individuals who may serve in the mentor role, e.g., faculty advisers (intra- and inter-department), non-academic professionals, peer graduate student mentors, etc
- the goals of a mentor/mentee relationship, discussing achievable milestones or benchmarks, and setting corresponding expectation
- the processes for “managing up” in a mentor/mentee relationship in terms of navigating successful accomplishment of the expected milestones and how to resolve conflict, overcome obstacles or inertia, etc.
